Seems like more then a few people freak out when they receive a reply from the browser with an error like the ones below:

Possible Error #1:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare win_is_writable() (previously declared in /home/your webserver id here/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php:1448) in /home/your webserver id here/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 557

Possible Error #2:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare win_is_writable() (previously declared in /var/www/your domain name here/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php:1448) in /var/www/your domain name here/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 558

These are pretty easy to fix. More then likely you just backed up your WordPress MySQL data base and the ftp folder containing your WordPress site and installed theme if you use one or tried unsuccessfully to upgrade WordPress from the dashboard and are now locked out of your WordPress dashboard.  If When trying to login to your dashboard for the first time you get one of the above errors follow the instructions here to fix the problem.

To resolve this issue you need to re-install the missing WordPress files to your new hosting platform. What ever happened, somewhere along the way you lost a few files.

First go here: Download the latest WordPress revision here!

Before doing anything else please backup your whole public directory if you have not already just to be safe. If all goes well you will only need to make sure the config.php is still in your ftp public or www folder to connect to your MySQL database. Since the WordPress install comes with Sample_config.php your file will not be over written if it is already there.

Once you have downloaded the latest WordPress Revision from the link above you will need to unzip to a folder then upload all files and folders to your ftp public or www folder. By over writing your public or www directory install of WordPress your dashboard and login issues should be resolved. So hit refresh on your login page and try again.

I hope you are now up and running again 🙂
